In this course, you will learn about communication processes in virtual organizations and how to build, manage, and lead teams across cultures. Managerial Creativity and Innovation for Leadership
This course focuses on imagination and invention (“creativity”) and on the productive results of such processes (“innovation”). To enhance business problem-solving and effective leadership, you will learn to integrate linear methods with nonlinear, imaginative tools.

Designing and Leading Organizations for Sustainable Success
In this course, you will learn how the multiple elements of organizational design and management contribute to an organization’s sustainable performance outcomes and strategic alignment. You will examine multiple frameworks and models of organization, including mechanistic/bureaucratic, human relations, political, open systems, and contingency perspectives.

Talent Management
Talent management can drive the management of human capital and create sustained competitive advantage for organizations. This course provides an in-depth analysis of the talent management functions of workforce planning, talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management, career planning, employee engagement, and retention.

Organizational Dynamics and Managing Change
Students will examine how to manage change by looking at strategy, organization design and processes, and multi-organizational systems. Specific topics include traditional and contemporary approaches to change management, organization learning, consulting skills, and organization development.

Negotiation and Resolution of Business Disputes
This course addresses the dynamics and techniques that drive negotiations and the avoidance and resolution of business disputes. Communication and decision-making techniques are studied, with particular attention to methods of negotiation and dispute resolution other than traditional litigation.

Leadership: Great Leaders, Great Literature
This course prepares you to understand and assume leadership roles in increasingly competitive, globalized, multicultural, multi-values organizations. You will learn significant theories and models of leadership; analyze your own unique leadership style; develop, refine, and articulate your individual leadership philosophy; and examine the values and ethical issues associated with leadership.

Management and Leadership Capstone
In the Education to Community (E2C) Capstone Project, you will provide a summative reflection integrating and applying theories, frameworks, and learning from across the MSML program, including understanding of organizations as complex systems. You will be tasked with presenting the completion of your individual learning contract and a personal and professional leadership development plan that articulates your core values, personal mission, and strategic action plans.

Responsible Business Practice Capstone
In this course, you will examine multidisciplinary values—such as environmental stewardship, corporate citizenship, product/service excellence, and financial strength—and be challenged to integrate these four values in building a blueprint for business sustainability. The course is taught from a practitioner’s point of view, utilizing a combination of case studies, current media, and guest speakers. The capstone project requires students to work collaboratively in preparing a business plan that will be presented to a panel of distinguished business entrepreneurs.
